Killeen, Irelands Number 1 Refuse Sacks and the HSE Community Games joined forces to break a Guinness world record in Athlone on Saturday 20th August and raise funds for the Jack and Jill Foundation.
The football pitch at Athlone IT was the setting for Ireland’s largest sack race. Just over one thousand competitiors aged from 8 to 60 years (and more!) got into Killeen Refuse Sacks and jumped a tremendous 100 metres simultaneously and all for a really great cause. Despite not breaking the world record the event was a fun event enjoyed by competitors and spectators alike.
Jennifer Richards, Marketing Director for Killeen Household Products commented: “We would like to thank everybody who competed in Ireland‘s largest Killeen Sack Race. It was an amazing sight! A sea of Killeen refuse sacks covered the football field with the jumping sound echoing a team of horses galloping towards the finish line. We are delighted to have raised over €10,000 for the Jack & Jill Foundation.”
Edelle Monahan, Jack and Jill added: “We would just like to thank everyone, especially Killeen and the HSE Community Games, for getting involved in such a great spectacle. The money raised from this will go a long way to helping us further improve the lives of so many children around Ireland”
