Connaught/Ulster Carer of the Year 2010 – Niamh Simon
The Carers Association’s Connacht / Ulster Carer of the Year Award was presented at a special ceremony yesterday evening to Jack & Jill Mum, Niamh Simon, of Boyle, Co. Roscommon, at the Landmark Hotel, Carrick on Shannon. Niamh has dedicated the last four years of her life to caring for her son Tommy who suffers with a life limiting cardiac and neurological illness. Tommy was born 12 weeks premature with many difficulties including cerebral palsy, having no spleen and blindness and Niamh provides round the clock care for him.
