The Jack and Jill Children’s Association were delighted and very honoured to be the chosen charity for the proceeds of the raffle at the Irish Pharmacy Awards in the Burlington Hotel on 19th May 2012 with a donation of €4,000 to the Foundation.
In addition to this wonderful donation, the Irish Pharmacy News introduced The People’s Award, launched in association with the Jack and Jill Foundation in search of the People’s Pharmacist.
Dervilla Callan, Pharmacist at Sallins Pharmacy in Naas won the prestigious People’s Pharmacist Award with the pharmacy being nominated as a result of their help, advice and general caring attitude to their patients. One such nominator describes how the staff always demonstrate commitment, no matter what time of the day customers visit and have a talent for always putting their minds at ease with expert advice and guidance.
Speaking after her win, Dervilla says, “I have been working in Sallins Pharmacy for twelve years now and the community has seen me grow up with pharmacy and I am delighted to be appreciated for all the work that I have done through the years.”
Senator Mary Ann O’Brien, co-founder of the Jack and Jill Foundation comments, “The importance of a local pharmacist cannot be overstated enough. I couldn’t have survived without mine.”
The award ceremony was attended by over 400 representatives from the pharmaceutical industry throughout Ireland and was presented by well known TV3 personality Cybil Mulcahy.
IPN are currently the only independent magazine catering to the needs of the Irish Pharmaceutical industry and have recently launched its sister magazine, Hospital Pharmacy News (HPN).
Our sincere thanks to IPN Managing Director Natalie Maginnis, and Kelly Jo Eastwood for their wonderful support and donation of €4,000 to Jack and Jill which equates to 250 hours of home nursing care to our children with brain damage throughout Ireland. It was indeed an honour to be associated with such a prestigious event and we wish the Irish Pharmacy News continued success for the future.
