Global healthcare company Abbott has announced that it has donated over €170,000 to the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation.
The funds will help to provide almost 10,000 hours of in-home nursing for families in communities across Ireland. The donation is the latest highlight in a three-year collaboration between Abbott and the Foundation.
1,500 Abbott employees, across 10 of the company’s sites in Ireland, took part in fundraising efforts to support the Foundation. These included a Croke Park Abseil Challenge, climbing The Blue Stack Windmills in Donegal, and an event in Sligo which saw 62 Abbott employees scale the iconic Benbulben.
At a reception to celebrate the partnership, a cheque totaling €170,537 was presented to Natalie Brennan, a parent whose family is supported by the Foundation, and Connacht rugby captain and Jack and Jill Ambassador, Jack Carty.
“At Abbott, helping people live life to the full is at the heart of everything we do. The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation embodies this mission by empowering families to care for their children in the warmth and comfort of their own homes. Witnessing the impact the Foundation has had over the past three years has deeply inspired us all. It is a privilege to support such a compassionate organisation,” said Trevor Harrison, Site Director, Abbott.
Alie Sheridan, Head of Fundraising at the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation said –
“We are very grateful to Abbott for their ongoing support and the tens of thousands of hours of care their fundraising has made possible over the past three years. This latest donation makes a tangible difference to the lives of the families under our care, and we appreciate everything Abbott employees have done in helping us to climb the fundraising hill,”
Abbott’s support for Jack and Jill forms part of the company’s wider commitment to supporting local communities. Abbott’s Croí an Óir programme, a volunteering and giving initiative, has raised over €2.5m for 870 charities nationwide since 2007.
